Day 44

ITALY | Sunday, 17 January 2010 | Views [306]

We arrived in Rome at about 11am, but despite being on a "sleeper" train, we had very little sleep.

We made it to our hostel by about 1pm, its pretty cool, more like a hotel than a hostel. probably a good thing to have some peace and quiet after the events of paris. We checked in a crashed out, slept until about 5.

Then we grabbed some pizza. Here its thin and square, without much (or any) tomato sauce, and you pay by the kilo. great stuff. We then caught the metro to the fontana di trevi, which was amazing to see at night, chucked the mandatory 2 coppers in. we walked around a bit, rome is pretty small so u can just walk to most attractions. saw the pantheon, and a buch of cool fountains, had a beer at Sloppy Sam's Irish pub, and then got lost on the way home, ended up in Jew town, so far south it wasnt on our map...how do i always manage to get lost? But it wasnt too bad, we got to see the Collosseum at night on the walk back.

Rome is awesome, weather is pretty good, around 12 during the day. and the whole place feels safer and cleaner than paris. foods great too.
