Woke up at aroudn 7am today, had a train to catch to Barca...finally!
Took advantage of the hostels free breakfast. 1 stail croissant and the worst coffee ive had in my life.
Glad to see the end of the Blue Planet hostel, but Paris has really grown on me.
Caught our train, it was rather nice, cumfy chairs, powerpoint, little caffe carrage. The first half of the trip Paris-Narbonne went really quickyl.
In Narbonne we transferred to the spanish train...big drop in quality. Im pretty sure at one point the carrages were pulled by a steam engine, all they've done is replace the locomotive with a deisel one. crap.
Still...we survived. Made it into Barca at around 10pm. Walked to our hostel, HelloBCN from the train station, was about a 20min walk. Later found out that theres a tube station that would halve the journey.
Barcelona is really cool, even at night.
HelloBCN is a great hostel, cool staff, great common room, good bar and we have a 4 person room, and its just me and sam at the moment.
There is a guy in the hostel, a yank, whose job is just to organise the events entertainment. Tonigt was a club called Apollo witch was describes to us as a Rock and Roll club. So me and sam thoght "sweet! its going to be like a spanish Jive!" (for those of u who dont know, Jive is me and my mates favourite place to go to in Adelaide, its an Indie Bar/Club).
In Barca you dont go out until 12am at the earliest, clubs dont start to get going until around 2-3am, so everyone sleeps until around 8-9pm. We grabbed a burger at this really cool bar near the hostel. You sit down at a table with a beer tap on it, and you pay by the litre...jackpot! we stayed there for about 2 hrs, then headed back to the hostel to go to the club.
While waiting, we met a girl, who by freak chance was also from Adelaide, she was even friends with Sara Katsidis in high school...small world.
We went to Apollo, but it definatley wasnt an Idie club, it was just Drum and Bass, and drinks were rediculous. 25 euro for 3 rum and colas. we left early.
