I've been sick for the last 5 days now, and whatever high-spirit in me
still remains after that, is usually shattered by Dave's moods and
actions before I get a chance to come make updates. Not to say I'm any better. I don't always act like the person I am, it scares me, and I really do need to work on not being affected, and only reacting out of love - love for myself as well mind you... So to be honest, I
feel more than a little deflated this week. I won't go into any more of that
as I guess it's more personal than blog-worthy, although this is MY
travel blog, and it's the truth of what's going on. But whatever - Just
need to explain because I definitely don't feel bubbly and excited to
write an entry, but I really still do want to - it might just lack a
little life.
I wrote this in an e-mail to my family yesterday:
"Take a look:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=2593
Earlier today when I was walking to the internet cafe I thought I was
going to become extinct like the dinosaurs. The roads here are HOT. -
And though they are paved there is still a ton of dirt, dust and
rocks at the sides. Also the "gas stations" are just wooden stands on
the side of the road shelved with old bottles! - Like glass coke
bottles and wine bottles - and the bottles are filled with gas, so a
person chooses a size and then they funnel it into the car.
This morning we took a tuk tuk at 5AM, to go see a sunrise, and we
stopped for gas - The gas guy and his family all sleep on the side of
the road, on a wood bed with no mattress. It made me feel like shit."
Heh, so on another not, we went to Angkor Wat Yesterday at 5AM! To see
the sunrise, and HONESTLY, it wasn't even close to the best sunrise
I've seen, but, had it been a good sunrise, it would have been amazing
with Ankgor in the foreground. It was just too cloudy and murky
yesterday.
Yesterday Was Our 3rd day discovering the Temples of Angkor, and
really, I don't think words OR my photos do it justice. It truely is
something you have to see to have it sink in and blow you away. To me
it isn't just the size of these buildings, it how OLD they are. I've
always had a creepy fetish with old things, they make me feel scared
and icvky, but in a good way! So it's just an incredible feeling to be
in these old stone builing and know they have been there FOREVER. They
are all so massive too that A photograph cannot capture their size.
There are doorways and rooms and halls that go on forever and ever and
ever. I liked the bluildings that were a bit more 'ruined-like'- Cause
it gave me a better sense of how old they are - When Ancient trees are
devouring the stones. I'll let me photos do a bit more of the talking.
We are taking a Day off today though, just to puts around and avoid the
heat, I'm going to look for a pool, and then we have 2 more days of
temples. So far we've had a tuk tuk driver driving us around the
grounds, which has been very handy cause he knows where to go and what
to show us. For our last 2 days though we are going to rent bicicles
and re-visit our favorites and just explor on our own. There are some
emples I havn't taken photos of yet cause my camera died., So stay
tuned for another photo batch after this.
Love and miss everyone, so so soooo much. So much you can't beleive it!
