Lights of Tihar

Lights, garlands and worship are some of the integral parts of Tihar. Like many, a man creates an altar in front of his store using multicolored powders, incenses or flowers among other things.

Lights, garlands and worship are some of the integral parts of Tihar. Like many, a man creates an altar in front of his store using multicolored powders, incenses or flowers among other things.

A dog rests at the footstep of a statue in Kathmandu, one day before thousands of people flood the streets to celebrate Tihar. The second day of the celebrations will be particularly important for this dog, as he will be treated as royalty.

This very important event in Hindu culture is also known as Deepawali or the festival of lights. Streets will be lit up by thousands of small lights and candles.
