The crowd watch on as a rough stock rider picks his rigging up out of the dust. The hot summer sun sitting low in the sky signals the drawing to a close of another long day in the arena.

Rodeo Clowns have their work cut out for them putting life and limb on the line to keep the bulls and riders safe. It’s a madman’s job, to come face to face with anything up to a tonne of muscle and horn, and rely of reflexes to stay alive. They earn their place as the heroes of the arena.

After the competition comes to a close, the horses and bulls are often let out into the arena to roam free for the night. “Hobo road” is the name of the grey gelding that can be seen in this image following the rest of his herd.
