With no formal education,these people are totally dependent on their sculpting skills to make a living,passed on from one generation to another.Young ones often start learning at the tender age of 10.

The canines often become indispensable part of the family of slum dwellers living on roti(dough bread) made by the women folks.It shows its loyalty by protecting the smallest and weakest member.

The price of idols are fiercely bargained, but the absence of middleman often results in decent profit,good enough to give them a shelter under a thatched roof and two meals a day.
