Round The World Adventures "The rewards of the journey far outweigh the risk of leaving the harbour"

The cold North!

I know I'm a wuss but going from 30 deg C to 12 deg C is shock
enough for anybody right?  I'm talking about my departure from
Nairobi, Kenya and my arrival in bonny Aberdeen, Scotland.  At least
it didn't rain during my brief stay with friends John & Liesl in
Aberdeen.  I didn't do much during my 3 days there, other than to
marvel at the greater variety of shops and try and understand some
of the thick Scottish accents.  For a minute I thought I was
listening to a foreign language, but this young lad was actually
speaking some form of English!  I also had the pleasure of my credit
card being swallowed by an ATM machine, after only just receiving it
via courier a couple of hours beforehand (that's another story!)

I spent a day travelling via train from Aberdeen to Swansea in South Wales to stay with Menna's Mum, Tegwyn.  I arrived in time to watch the ill-fated quarter final between the All Blacks and France in Cardiff.  I must say that the atmosphere in and out of Millenium Stadium was fantastic and I did have an awesome seat.  It's just a damn shame the result wasn't what I wanted!  Say no more!

After Wales it was across the sea to Dublin in the Republic of Ireland, and a brief 4 day visit to catch up with some friends.  I was in Dublin 4 1/2 years ago, during my last RTW trip, and there are loads more upmarket cafes and bars there now.  It's a huge improvement for sure.
