Italy, part one

Hello from Italy!!! Well we had a lovely time in Valencia, stayed near the beach and the America's Cup village. We managed to find the HOLY GRAIL on our travels, the only one formally recognised by the Vatican. Spent some time at the beach too which was nice. It was then on to Barcelona, home of the 1992 Olympics! We were holding onto our bags for dear life as we strolled down Las Ramblas, the main pedestrian strip in the city. We were fine though. We went to Parc Guell and got awesome views of the city, we popped down to the beach and had a swim, and in my opinion it was the best beach yet! We saw an amazing light show at night which used the huge water fountains outside the castle. It went for about 45 mins and was fantastic. We caught a flight to Rome from Barcelona the following afternoon. As we had two nights in Rome but really only one day to visit it, we got up early and spent the next 10.5 hours walking around all the sights!! We went to St Peters Bascilica, Sistine Chapel (what a mission to get to!), the Colosseum, Fonti di Trevi, Pantheon and Palatine hill. Also spent some time looking at Roman ruins (there's something new for us to do...haha). So all in all a great day out in Rome! Got the train this morning to Piano di Sorrento which is just north of Sorrento. We went via Naples. We were going to stay there but didn't hear many nice things about the place so decided to skip it. Went to the beach here today which was a black beach with shallow water, now really a beach, more like a swimming pool as they put up a wall about a metre deep as there are no life guards there! Tomorrow we are off to the Amalfi Coast, then day after that we'll check out Pompeii. Saw Mt Vesuvius today, silly silly people for building such a large city right under it (Naples).
