My Scholarship entry - The Volcano Miners

These men have completed their second (and final) trip for the day to the crater and back, and now receive their wages in cash – approximately 60 cents (US) per kilogram, for an average US$48 per 12km return trip. A fortune in a society where the minimum wage is around US$100 per month, but at a huge health cost.
