A resident, along with his daughter, still scavenge for metal and recyclable junk to make a living.

You could still see the long history of this mountain through big patches of waste beside the where the plants grow. Though they plant and harvest, some of them could not leave scavenging since the money they make from selling their produce is not enough.

The kids here also help their parents in planting, harvesting and sometimes, scavenging. Smokey Mountain is their home, source of livelihood and playground. Some of the kids go to the nearest public school.
