Walking the river

THAILAND | Tuesday, 7 January 2014 | Views [377]

I have been a huge offshore fisherman for years in South Florida so when I saw the river in Singburi, Thailand where I live I couldn't pass up putting my feet into the water and enjoying waters edge. With my digital camera in hand I ventured down a small path stepping carefully yet watching the fishermen along the bank and other locals just sitting in waist deep water. A few step down the path I heard a distict sound or hiss. It was a sound I had heard before while fishing or hunting in the Everglades. My steps stopped suddenly and I started to back track towards the sidewalk wall when up jumped and rather disturded alligator. The 8 foot alligator was sunning itself along the sawgrass on the bank when I disturbed it. An 8 foot alligator was just enough for me to pack my reels and gear to send back to the states and just enjoy the set of Calloway golf clubs I just dragged across China and half the globe. Alligator is great on the grill, but I think I will stick to cursing at my golf balls for the time being.
