Day 11 – Saturday, July 16th – Little Sandy Creek to Sweetwater River Crossing, Wyoming

USA | Monday, 1 August 2011 | Views [546]

More riding through big sky country, good roads, very light traffic, fine weather. I visited the historic mining site of South Pass City, then on to another historic mining site, Atlantic City, where I met a French/Dutch couple in the mercantile who has just crossed the Great Divide Basin. They looked pretty beat up.

The sun was setting as I set out for the informal campground at Sweetwater River, so I bummed an ATV ride up the hill from some folks from Dubois who were fishing in the area. Then it was seven miles downhill to the campsite – right next to the river in a meadow, although there were cow pies all around which I had to dodge.
