Emerging from a makeshift wooden sauna, three students quickly run into Kluane Lake. The water is not more then a few degrees celsius, as it originates from the toe of the Kaskawalsh glacier less than 50km away.

A cabin sits on the shore of Kluane Lake. Scientists working at the Kluane Lake Research Station during the summer sleep in these basic cabins. Although they protect the researchers from the grizzlies that share the base with them in the late summer, the cracks in the plywood don't keep out the plentiful mosquitos.

The summer brings colour to the Kluane ranges. Fireweed blooms purple, the grass glows golden, and the light green of the shrubs and aspen contrasts the dark green of the spruce trees.
