The old homestead by the river is lively during the summer, when a lot of tourist and locals come to bathe at the nearest beach. The mill, the sawmill and the old house seem abandoned during the cold season, but infact they are very much alive. A lot of repairing and maintaining has to be done before spring begins.

Kolpa river is the south border between Slovenia and Croatia. A large part of the landscape around the river is part of the Regional park Kolpa. In the past, this place was a home to many mills and sawmills, but nowadays only a few are preserved. The river often floods the riverside, sometimes the water is so high it floods the entire road to the mill. During the big floods in the summer an old wooden boat washed up on the courtyard of the mill and the owners tied it on a tree.

The owner carrying a sack of corn ready to be grined into corn flour with his son on the left. The family is very passionated about their mill and are trying to revive it after it was abandoned for a long time. Unfortunatelly a lot of work has to be done, which could last a couple of years and will cost a lot of money. Still the family is optimistic and tries to do most of the work on their own, little by little.
