Roaming Rome

ITALY | Tuesday, 11 June 2013 | Views [220]

We arrived safely in Rome on Sunday night to a friendly host, Gianni awaiting our arrival in the street. Our apartment is perfect, built in 1870 it has a charming courtyard and a quirky litlle lift, little being the operative word, when Gianni and Hilary got in there was no way Kate was going to fit. Gianni said, we quote, "I will be done with her in a few seconds" although not intended no one could ignore the sexual innuendo, we erupted into laughter.

We immediately took advantage of our proximity to the Colosseum, only a 10 min walk! We soaked up the stunning architecture in the night whilst nibbling on some fresh, sweet cherries.

We awoke Monday morning to a stunning day, around 21' and sunny. Perfect for our action packed touristic day.

In a nutshell we walked 16km and sighted the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Vittoriano, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese gardens, Piazza Del Popolo, Vatican City (well the walls), Piazza Navona and Pantheon!  We were blown away by the history, the architecture and the ruins!
