Endangered Cape Mountain Zebra. One of the special sightings in the Camdeboo is the endangered Cape Mountain Zebra. The evergreen Spekboom (Elephant’s Food) scrub is widely spread in the mountain areas and is a succulent nutrition for the Zebra, even in the dry winter months, as in this photo.

Lonely Tree.
On the plains, which are mostly covered with grass and small scrubs, one will find riverbeds, which usually is densely populated by Acacia trees. This isolated Acacia however, made for a good picture with the small moon setting just above the mountain ridge.

Valley of Desolation Plains.
The mountain seems to just suddenly stop, laying low for a few kilometers and then just start rising out of the earth again. This spectacular scene was created over 100 million years ago by volcanic and erosive forces.
