My Scholarship entry - A Hawaiian Day Filled With The Aloha Spirit

Why me? I’m neither the most experienced nor well versed, but if I were to stake my reputation on anything, it would be my passion—a passion not only for photography, but for life. I crave to capture this passion through my lens, framing moments of joy and of pain. Beauty is in everything, although it may be hard to see, its there and I am devoted to finding it. You don’t know me personally, but part of my story is in the narrative I shared with you; each photo isn’t simply a depiction of the place, but an insight into me.
To capture a moment that emotes profoundly isn’t easy, for the perfect frame of the perfect moment is fleeting, but that's life. I want to learn, to grow, and to become a better photographer and storyteller—capturing the evanescent.
Growing up I watched and read Natural Geographic yearning to follow this path. I've been blessed with opportunities to travel and see cultures contrasting my own—leaving me wanting more. This opportunity is all I’ve hoped for: traveling, being mentored, and experiencing what I want to devote my life to: photography and our world. Studying journalism in university, I realize competition is immense; I hope you can see my potential.
