Kaitie & Caroline's Epic Journey of Super Awesomeness!

Koh Tao = beautiful coral, colourful fishies and a shark!

The weather on the day of our journey to Koh Tao was perfect, cloudy and a bit rainy. If there was gonna be a rainy day, we lucked out and had it on a day we were off the beach anyways! We arrived and found us a place to stay for the night, then took off searching for somewhere better for the rest of our stay. That night we discoverd a Mexican restaurant that we fell in love with, which also played recent movies on a projector screen! It was magical! Food and movies! That night was fajitas and New Moon night. So satisying. The next morning we packed our bags and changed accomodations to the AC resort. It had a nice pool which was a lovey plus. Still determined to do our beaches tho we headed to the beach that morning. Although the sand was actually really hard, the water was crystal blue and a beautiful sight to see! Being that its still Thailand, it was extremelyyyy hot and we were almost immediately in the ocean. We went to go take pictures around some pretty rocks in the water, but when Kaitie went to climb on it, she quickly realized there were large crabs also occupying the rock. She ran away. Caroline made her way up for her pictures with the rocks, and noticed some wierd looking mini-alligator freaky things on some other rocks, so that was our cue to run away to our pool. The rest of the day was spent relaxing by the pool, working on our tans. We are finally satisfied and feel quite dark! That night we made our way further down the beach and went to an irish pub place for dinner, called Choppers, (although we ordered Thai food?). Once again, a movie was playing! This time it was What Happens in Vegas!

The next day we had booked a full day snorkeling trip with AC Tours. We had two cool tour guide people, one of whom was a Canadian from Manitoba who just moved out there and was his first day on the job. The first place we stopped off was Shark Bay, and we actively went searching all over the bay for a shark...sadly we did not see any. There were of course a bunch of smaller fish and gorgeous coral! The second place we went, we were exploring the coral further in the cove and what swam past us? A BLACK TIP REEF SHARK! We were so excited that we both just started chasing the thing down trying to get a picture of it! It wasn't massive or anything, maybe about 4-5 feet, but super cool! Poor thing was much more scared of us wierdos stalking the thing down! Never in our lives did we think we would be chasing down sharks as we totally had nightmares of it being the other way around. Either way, we got our picture! The next few stops were full of more beautiful coral and tons of small and large fish all of different kinds and colours. Kaitie's favorite she nicknamed "Avatar Fish", since they were the craziest neon colours ever! Sadly, the pictures don't nearly do them justice! We also ran into a bunch of long, pointy nose fish that once we starting chasing them, seemed to start chasing us right back. The tour ended at 3 small islands off of Koh Tao which are all connected by a sand bar. There was some extremely cool coral off the edges of these islands which closed up if you got near them! They were super entertaining...it was like Caroline got a new toy on Christmas morning! We then had a nice long chat with our Canadian tour guide and he gave us a bunch of pointers for when we get to Europe, and told us we should move to Vancouver. Possible option for our next phase? Maybbbbbbeee!! After that it was back to our boat for our boat ride home, passing various rocks that looked like butt cracks (kaitie and caroline could not sop laughing as we thought his was the funniest thing ever....esp when water shot out of the crack!)

We arrived back at our resort extremely tired and a little more red than we were expecting. We made sure our fronts were always lathered in sun screen but tended to neglect our backs and butts which were floating all day in the sun (IDIOTS!). That night determined to man up and have a drink because our tour gave us a coupon for 50% of an alcoholic beverage at our resort. Forcing it down as it was still not the most appetizing thing as we both would have flashbacks of Koh Samui hangover with every sip. Then it was back to our Mexican Restaurant for dinner and the end of 2012(worst movie ever).

The next day Kaitie and Caroline slept in as we had done way too much physical activity the day before and could not get ourselves out of bed (Thailand makes you lazy). The rest of that day and the next was speant by the pool enjoying our last Thailand island for this trip.

All in all Koh Tao was thoroughly enjoyable and a good end to our Thailand islands. The next day it was off to Bangkok via ferry and double decker bus so that we could catch our flight to Cambodia.
