Friday July 20th. Starting the morning off early,
yet again, my roommates (Kati and Alex) and I made our way to the airport. We
have come to dislike the European airports because they do not tell you what
gate your plane will be at until 30minutes before leaving. They also want you
there 2 hours before hand, so you are waiting in a really big and crowded area
for about 1½ hours. Anyways, we made it safely to Holland. (By the way, I think I was the only
one who didn’t know that Amsterdam was in Holland, nor did I know that Holland
and the Netherlands
are interchangeable... I feel so stupid!) The first thing we did was check into
the hostel. Surprisingly we had no troubles finding it, we basically walked
straight there and our room was ready! We ended up getting a private room with
three beds. It was perfect because we didn’t have to worry as much about our
stuff being stolen and shower times. After setting our backs down and unpacking
a little, we headed out.
There was a girl about our age working the reception desk,
so we decided to ask her some questions about locations. The first thing we
asked was where we could get some weed. She pointed us to a café called
Dampkring. Then we asked her where Anne Frank’s house and if we could walk
there. Apparently Amsterdam
looks really large on a map but is quite small in walking distances. So we
first went to Dampkring to smoke. This was my first time smoking weed when I
was sober, which made it quite a different experience. J Kati and I smoked only
¼ gram, which was just perfect. We wrapped up the rest and went to Anne Frank’s
house. The walk to her house was really interesting because I wasn’t in charge
of where we were going and it starting raining, and then my umbrella broke. It
was so funny because I was high and trying to follow Alex while it was raining
and my umbrella was flopping all over the place. Haha. Once we got to Anne
Frank’s house we had to wait in a long line (about 30minutes). When we first
got there I couldn’t remember too much about Anne Frank, but while walking
through I remembered most of everything. The building was interesting because it
started in the working area and as we continued to walk up the really narrow
stars everything started coming back. Once we reached the top, where Anne Frank
and her family lived you could see most of the original decorations, like wall
paper and pictures that Anne had hung up. The disappointing part was that they
had taken out all of the furniture and all of the rooms were pretty much empty.
I am glad we took the time to walk through her house.
Our next stop was back to the hostel. We were a little
tiered so we all took an hour nap. We woke up and got ready to go out. This was
a really interesting part of the night. (You probably want to stop reading if
you thought the weed was a too much.) We decided to walk down to the Red Light
District. Come to find out, there really are red lights and girls in windows.
At the beginning of the street the girls were really pretty, but by the end of
the street they weren’t. We were offered coke and ecstasy while we were walking
down the street and if you looked down one of the allies you could see many people
doing drugs. We ended up getting in line for a place called Casa Rosso. Our
tourguide from Belgium
suggested that we went there. Casa Rosso has live sex shows that run continuously
throughout the day and night. Yes, we saw a sex show. All three of us girls
thought that it would be similar to a strip club, but we were sadly mistaken. We
all thought that the show would be some what stimulating and attractive, but we
were wrong! There were a couple of different acts that played which were not
sex. There was one where a man in a police uniform did a little strip dance
with two girls from the audience on stage; there was a girl who did a dance
with a glow in the dark dildo that she never actually used; and there was a
girl who did a dance with a banana and she had three random boys from the
audience on stage with her. None of the people could dance, no one had any
rhythm, and none of them looked like they were having fun or wanted to be
there. Then there was the part with people actually having sex on stage. This
whole thing was disgusting. Neither of them seemed interested in it, so there
were no facial expressions and it looked like they were counting the beats of
the music and counting when to switch. It was so awkward! Even though the show
was not anything of what we thought it would be we decided that we were all
very happy that we spent the money to see it. We will never be able to see
anything like that again…. Only in Amsterdam!!

After this we went home and went to bed
