Wimbledon

UNITED KINGDOM | Monday, 9 July 2007 | Views [445]

Tues, June 3. I went to work in the morning and made it through the day. I got off of work a tinny bit early so I could go to Wimbledon!!! I ended up meeting my roomie Kati at our home tube station. We scrambled to get down to the right stop... it took a little longer than I thought it would have. It also cost a more money to get there because it was further away.

Once we were off the tube we had to walk a little more than a mile in order to get to the stadium. We got there, we were searched, and then we had to buy $22 tickets...just so we could stand. :) Well I would have been completely satified standing AND watching a match, but it started sprinkling. As Kati and I found one of the ground matches all we saw was the tarp being pulled over the court. It started to rain harder so we made our way into the girft shop....BAD IDEA! We both spent a little too much money, and we didn't get anything for ourselves.

Once it stopped raining we walked back outside to watch the end of the match. Nothing was happening yet, so we grabed a slice of pizza. Then there was an announcement reporting that all of the matches were canceled for the rest of the day. :(

As we finished our pizza it started raining again. This time it started slow but quickly turned into monsoon weather!!! It was down pouring and flash flooding while we were trying to walk up the hill to the tube stop. By the time we made it to the tube, my pants were soaked up to my knees and my umbrella started leaking because it was raining so hard. lol... :)

Even though we didn't see any tennis players... or balls... or courts, we made the best of it. We had a great time anyways and I am really happy that I still went down there!

(If you want Kati has pictures and they should be on here site...
