    Devotion and charm exist even in the favelas. Despite their portrayal in the Western media, I was surprised how normal life in them can appear. Juice bars, cake shops and mobile phone sellers were a feature of this one. by: juliantse Views[412] Black and white friends train together at a makeshift gym near Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro. by: juliantse Views[3972] A from a hole in the wall in a favela (shanty town) in Rio, peers out to shacks right next to modern high-rises by the sea. The contrast between haves and have-nots is a very present theme in Brazil at the moment. by: juliantse Views[588] Whether rich or poor, it is difficult to find a match for the sense of optimism, deep affection, and love of life of the people of Brazil. by: juliantse Views[503]
