    Fields of Dreams #5 - The sun was dipping low into the late afternoon summer sky and this regal line of cypress trees stood tall and strong, like sentry guards over the vast field and valley. The sun cast a shadow of each trees unique shape and size, elongating and emphasizing their powerful line of purpose. The shadows played and danced dreamily and the evening and tress stood watch. This small cypress boulevard lined the drive to nearby home. It is common to find cypress boulevards lining drives leading to homes throughout Tuscany. Hundreds of years ago the tress acted as markers for travelers who were seeking food and shelter & they knew they could find it at the end of a cypress boulevard. Countryside from the direction of Monticchiello near Pienza in the Val d'Orcia region of Tuscany, Italy - June 12, 2013 by: judithheidrich Views[461] Fields of Dreams #4 - This wheat field had just been harvested and the sounds of the tractors could be heard working in the nearby fields. The farmers left the bales to dry in the sun, taking advantage of the light and warmth of the long summer days for securing dryness and wellbeing of their crops. These bales appeared to all be rolled to one end of the hill, each positioned in the perfect direction. As I peered through the trees and caught this image, it seemed that all of the bales wanted to be in the picture so they all gathered for a family shot :-) Countryside between Montepulciano and Montelcino in the Val d'Orcia region of Tuscany, Italy - June 23, 2013 by: judithheidrich Views[701] Fields of Dreams #3 - Harvest time arrived and the farmers worked their fields from sunup to sundown, taking advantage of the extended summer daylight hours. Bales of hay are left to dry in the sun before they are gathered for storage and for food for the animals. Each bale seems to have been positioned with an intended sense of order and rhythm. They remind me of musical notes on a sheet of paper and if you were viewing the field from above a beautiful and dreamy symphony would be seen and heard. With each passing minute shadows began to dance lover the sprawling wheat fields and valleys. The wheels of the tractor that harvested the land seemed to leave behind a signature of synchronicity and oneness with the land. The temperature was unseasonably cool as this was taken on the road from the direction of Monticchiello . Countryside near Pienza in the Val d'Orcia region of Tuscany, Italy - June 12, 2013 by: judithheidrich Views[325] Fields of Dreams #1 - Flowers burst with color in early summer along the edge of this expansive undulating and ripening wheat field near Pienza, Italy. The field fills with shadows and creates a dreamy hint of gold colosr and movement. Renaissance painters were famous for painting this type of countryside. The crops will be harvested a bit late this year due to an unusual amount of rainfall that occurred during the spring. As the summer breeze moved across and rustled the wheat, there was the slightest whisper of sound and movement.
