My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Ever since a young age I have been interested in photography. Photography is a creative outlet for me, an escape, and a challenge. I enjoy the chase of the photo; trying to catch the correct light, the best angle, the right subject; capturing that moment to create something visually beautiful is exciting. Furthermore being able to share those moments makes it all the more rewarding.

I am a traveller at heart. I have a strong desire to see the world, experience different cultures and reflect these moments in my photography. In Australia I am an Emergency Nurse in a level 1 Trauma centre. I am passionate about working in the medical field, but I would really love to combine these skills with social documentary photography, providing insight and understanding of health issues in the developing world through photography.

This scholarship would provide me with an opportunity to approach photography on a professional level. Having Jason as a mentor would be an invaluable experience, allowing me to grasp and refine new techniques under guidance and incorporate these into my own photographic style.
