A walk that I'll remember A journey to create memories of the train route from Tanjong Pagar Railway Station to Woodlands, Singapore

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I love to travel and document my journeys with photos – memoirs to help me remember and bring me back to the times where those beautiful memories were created, allow those who do not have the chance or those who may have seen it but did not take a step back to think about and feel the story, to experience it.

A picture says a thousand words. That is the power of photography. It helps people to look deeper to understand the event, people, country and culture through a new pair of eyes.

I specifically love to capture landscapes and relationships, e.g. between people, animals, their environment etc. I believe that everything in the world is built upon relationships and without relationships, the world will no longer be the same and that is what it is becoming. People work really hard to have a better life but they do not take a step back to look at things and their relationship with others; things they already have. Life should be embracing what you have and treasuring it.

Another area of my passion is children. Therefore I love to capture images with children. Children are very innocent and they show their likes and dislikes and make their opinions known. Most importantly, they tend to look at things very differently, with curiosity and wonder, and they cherish what they have. These are some things, we as adults, need to learn.

I plan to travel around the world for a year or two to see the world, people and their culture. I hope that this opportunity will develop me as a better photo documenter; capturing better pictures to portray my feelings and thoughts when the camera shutter closes, to allow people to see them with another lens - the basic of human and nature.
