DAY 77. Get to the Choppah

NEW ZEALAND | Wednesday, 11 January 2017 | Views [153]

We left the holiday park and headed to the beach, it was a hot, humid, and sweaty day. We were there for a little while then Eddie asked us if we wanted to meet him and his friend for lunch. We met at a Thai place called Chokdee and the food was quite excellent. Eddie said he would take his friend Dion up for a flight in the helicopter and then each of us could have a turn. We went shopping to kill time until we had to meet him at the airport. We also went to the same ice cream/produce stall place we'd been to before for a cold treat and also bought fruits and veggies.

At the hanger, we went over a few safety things about the helicopter and Cassela was the first to go up. Michealla and I waited around in the heat but they came back 15 minutes later and then Michealla went up. Then it was my turn. We lifted off the ground and it was so hot in the small cabin and it didn't cool down until we were much higher up in the air. The view of all the orchards and fields below were so pretty. We headed towards the blue water and went along the coast. The water up against the golden beaches with the vibrant green forests from the air was quite a sight. We went over Kaiteriteri and almost to Marahau and we could see the Abel Tasman which was so pretty. We turned around and made a loop back to the airport. It was a short flight but definitely awesome.

We thanked Eddie and got on the road. We decided to head south instead of going east to Blenheim. We drove for 3-4 hours and the views of mountains, cliffs, and landscapes were so gorgeous. We made it to Hamner Springs, which was a cute, small touristy town. We found a holiday park, put up our tent, made dinner, and started on laundry. We all went to bed later than normal at about midnight.
