We woke up early and headed to the bike shop to pick up our mountain bikes that we booked online the night before. We got situated and then headed towards the mountain bike park. It was quite a long distance to it, we rode along the river on a paved pathway for awhile and then hit a four wheeler track. We peddled up a long gravel road for a good ways and took a decent number of breaks. It was a hot day so a good bit of sweating and overheating took place. Finally at the top, we hopped over a gate and headed down a gravel path. I was excited to finally be going downhill that I got going a bit too fast and was close to crashing but somehow regained control. We tried to figure out the signs and what was on our map and eventually found an entrance into the park.
There was a nice single track for a bit and then we started going up a trail called Jacks Track. It was a good climb and we all met at the top. To get back to the bottom, we took Fireball down. It was an intermediate trail but definitely had steeper terrain than the other intermediate ones I'd been on. I cruised down parts but walked on others that were just too steep and scary for me. I was up ahead of the others and waited awhile but then kept going. I stopped again and then they came up behind me. Cassela said she took a nasty tumble and she was all banged up and dirty from her spill. We figured out our way down to the roadway after cruising down a wide gravel road.
Also on the map, was the craft beer trail. We rode a ways to the Sprig and Fern bar and restaurant. We each ordered a brew and talked about our biking trip. We rode back to the shop and returned our bikes. We were hungry by this point so we drove over to the waterfront and ate at a fish and chips place. Back at the holiday park, we hung out in the lounge/tv room and watched tv. I went to the car to organize a bit and then showered before going to bed.
