DAY 4. My First NZ Rain

NEW ZEALAND | Sunday, 30 October 2016 | Views [705]

I got up around 9 and saw Alison and David before they went off to church. I had some breakfast then took a shower. Their shower is interesting, there is no separate tub or stand up shower; it's just a room with a sink, a shower head and a drain. (The toilet is in the next room over). So it's just like a really, big shower. Water goes everywhere but you mop the water into the drain afterwards. The best part is your bathroom floor is always clean.

I planned on taking a walk but once I got my bag together to head out the door it started pouring outside. So much for that. Instead, I just stayed inside and planned for my next destination. The Kiwis returned a little while later and we had lunch, pumpkin soup and bread. We then got in the car and made our way to Tauranga. They had to pick up some things for their home and after about a 25 minute drive, dropped me off to wander around. It was a cute town with a waterfront and boardwalk. I went into the shopping center and got a coffee. It sort of started to sprinkle again and I found a covered bench area right on the water. I did some more planning and just enjoyed being in a nice little spot.

Alison called me to find out where I was then we headed back home. Passing by more cows and sheep of course. We stopped at the store and picked up dinner. We ate and then Alison and I headed to her church for a Sunday night speaking. It was a small, Anglican church near the mine. The speaker was from Family Life International and had a great story that tied into some scripture and about what his organization does. After chatting a little bit with some of the congregation, we headed home. We all headed for bed after having a taste of Alison's cheesecake. I called Ryan :) and then called it a day.
