Peru - Arequipa

The mortuary room in the monastery. The nuns would be laid for 24 hours, before a burial. Previously family were not allowed to attend the funeral of their daughter who lived in the monastery. Part of the monastery is still resided by nuns, not the part we saw which is open to the public. And the rules have been relaxed, family at funerals, nuns are allowed TV and to work in a job outside of the monastery.
