    Lake Wanaka on New Zealand's South island is a place that shows how everything in nature is connected. The run-off water from alpine mountains collects in the lakes, which feed more rivers and streams to send nutrients down from the top (the mountains), throught the forests, and down to the bottom (the ocean). Here a lonely tree and hang-out for some cormorants stands proud with a mountain back-drop. by: jordi Views[496] On an expedition to record dolphin calls for the study of dolphin communication near boats, this Sooty shearwater flew by. Though all around me many dolphins and whales where showing off their spectacular jumps, I couldn't help but notice how beautifully this bird's reflection danced in the wavy water. by: jordi Views[459] The Koru (fern) is New Zealand's national symbol and stands for new life, growth, peace and strength. During a hike through the beautiful Marlborough Sounds I came across this unfurrled fern being beautifully backlit by the sun. For me this photo captures and symbolizes all my adventures in this amazing country. by: jordi Views[1044] While doing a survey on gecko's in the New Zealand bush we found this baby green gecko. We put it on a note board to take some basic measurements when I snapped this photo. Its colours work perfectly on the green note board. by: jordi Views[1478] Beauty can be found in the smallest and darkest places. This glow worm uses a chemical reaction in its hind body to emit a blue light to attract prey insects. I found this glow worm, and many others, during a night hike through the New Zealand bush. By using a long expore to capture the glow and using a simple hand torch to fill in the darkness I captured both the animal and its glowing body. by: jordi Views[653]
