Coffee stops and hippie shops

AUSTRALIA | Thursday, 25 October 2007 | Views [445]

Dad and i camped out in a place called sawtell. It is a coastal town close to Coffs Harbour and has this inlet that can only be walked through at low tide. We spent the whole next day walking down the beach with our packs on completely alone. Its strange being on a beach for that long and not seeing anyone. Dad says that Australia is one of the only places in the world that one is able to do it. We are very lucky that by law in Australia beaches cant be privately owned, and that we have such a coastline.

My plans are to move to an even smaller community than Armidale by the start of winter. I personally cant stand the cold weather that is associated with the high altitudes of Armidale. The place is called Bellingen. Its a small place on the way to Coffs Harbour from Armidale. The climate is perfect, the people are lovley, and the landscape is full of luscious green fields. It sounds as if im romanticizing it a bit but it is actually that great. There is a bit of a free spirited hippie feel to it. Kind of like Byron bay was before it became commercialized (that is if you have ever been there). So yeah, my kind of place. Coffee stops and hippie shops. Now i can go and hoe the earth in my hippie commune haha :) Actually its funny that i mention that, on the walk down the beach there was a section of it that is a reserved nudist beach. Just over the sand dunes Dad said that there is a large hippie commune, so i might check it out. I can frollick naked in the moonlight :) haha wouldnt that impress the ladies!
