My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

In this over-saturated world of imagery, there is increasing demand for meaningful photographs that contribute something to society. I desire not just to be a photographer who can make stunning photographs, but to be one that can comment on issues, tell stories and elicit emotions. I am currently studying photography in London with that goal in mind, however I believe you learn so much more out in the field, which is why I am applying to this scholarship. If I can make a living out of photography then that would be great, but the aim is to learn how to make photographs with meaning, that contribute something.
I spent the first ten years of my life in Pakistan, because of this I am fascinated with exploring new places and cultures, especially in Asia. The camera is an excellent tool to connect with people you meet. I find myself in encounters that i wouldn't be in if it wasn't for my camera, to communicate the stories of these encounters to others is a bonus.
I chose to tell the story of Jodhpur, India through the photographs I made. Ever since I saw photographs by Steve McCurry of this city with enchanting blue streets I wanted to explore it with my lens, so I did.
