King cheetah, a DeWildt success story

King cheetah, a DeWildt success story

Tomorrow may be the final day of major painting – only the trim remains.  It will be a pleasure to retire the shorts and t-shirt I have been wearing for nearly three weeks.  I just didn’t want to ruin any good clothes!  On the cheetah scene there have been more deaths.  One of the two cubs just born died and so did one of the young king cheetah cubs.  As a species cheetahs are very inbred and the king cheetahs are even more so due to the recessive gene.  Attempting to breed king cheetahs at DeWildt has further complicated the problem – something I hope Ann realizes.

We had dinner out tonight at Cabala’s – the Portuguese place.  Thinking to try something new I had oxtail stew.  It was authentic – made with real oxtails complete with vertebrae.  Connie’s chicken looked awfully good.  Tomorrow the gang from Pretoria University will be back and we will utilize them to the max.  Then Parks’ kids come back on Saturday so we hope to finish up the painting on Sunday.  Monday is errand day including a trip to Pretoria to renew our visas.  Then on Tuesday we leave for Namibia.  Time is flying by.
