John (& Sarah's) journeys.

Freedom for the Fa rang

THAILAND | Tuesday, 25 October 2011 | Views [535]

We left Bangkok, probably just in time..not only did we see flooding on both sides of the tracks, but the train tracks themselves were flooded in several places. The ticket computer at Bangkok saion said no when we asked for a second class ticket,so we paid the princely sum of six pounds for a seven and a half hour journey in third class. Whilst slightly cramped,we met lots of Thai people including a Thai boy of about 8 who could not fathom that we did not speak Thai but kept asking us the same thing louder and louder, eventually smacking his forehead in disgust and giving up!

Food is clearly a big thing for the Thais and many people we have met have tried to share their food with us. The meals we have had have been amazing however chillis seem to predominate and sometimes the food is so hot it makes us cry!

We've been very lucky with our choice of beach resort in Southern Thailand...we are staying in a wooden chalet in tropical gardens right next to the beach. There is also no-one else here s it's like having our own exclusive hotel and chef! However, the monsoon hasn' quite finished so maybe that's why we are the only ones here...

When it rains it really rains but there has been enough sun that John has already got sunburnt!
