Well Paris. what can i say...I didn't fall in love with it like the movies would have you believe but we did thoroughly enjoy ourselves. We arrived at the euro star terminal to find that nobody in the information desk spoke english, but luckily a lovely French fella told us how to catch the metro. We set off to the notre Dame cathedral. very nice and gothic however overun with tourists who were snapping away at everything. Jayden had many questions about religion to ask prompted by this visit. Very cute. Then we got lost on the way home, it took us 1.5 hours to walk the 30 mins back to the hotel, although we stumbled along some cool stuff on the way home. purchased some wine and cheese and went home to have a feast. one of the only cheap things about Paris.
The next day we awoke to rain ;( but persevered with a visit to the eiffel tower. Apart from the rain we absolutely loved it. Walked the 23 flights to the first level watched a little movie on the tower and walked around a bit, and then another 23 flights to the second level. Needless to say we had very sore calves the next day. Once we got to the bottom we saw a heap of black guys with eiffel tower key rings being chased around by cops on bicycles. very entertaining. at one stage we saw a cop walk past with about 500 confiscated key rings. he he. From there the arc de triumph and shopping on the champ de elysses. Very expensive. couldn't believe the prices nike were charging. 200 euro for a middle of the range pair of runners. 50 euro for a hat.
That night we feasted on sangria, crepes, and snails in the latin quarter. snails were ok- tasted a lot like lamb. The next day we went to the lourve. huge place. So much to see and do. Again overun with japanesse tourists wanting to have their photo taken with the mona lisa. We then had our last meal of baguettes, wine and tarts and home on the euro star.
whilst we had a great weekend, I thought that Paris was very muched hyped up and it's hard for any place to live up to that.
have a look in the France photo album for our pics of Paris.
Bonjour xoxo
