Hello - my name is Jamie and for the past two years iv travelled both South America (for 4 months) and South East Asia for 6 months. To travel is a passion of mine and theres nothing better for me to do than to be on my own in the middle of nowhere. My first travels were my first time abroad in fact and i took to it like a duck to water - yes it was frightening and yes i wanted to just go home sometimes - but that feeling of acheivment afterwards is just the best feeling i think anyone could feel.
I travel solo and this works well with my passion for photography also - going out in Singapore at 2am for some quiet night-time shots, walking into jungle paths (forgetting mosquito spray) and being eaten alive while trying to snap shots of Macaques. Climbing to the top of Mount Kinabalu (BORNEO) and suffering the wind and rain, to reach the peak first - to then snap a shot of a wonderful sunset. As well as snapping misty sunrises in SARAWAK too before starting work with orangutans at a local centre.
Talking about the orangs, another passion of mine is to work with wildlife, to watch how they behave amongst each other and communicate while also getting my hands dirty. I've worked with Sun-Bears, Orang-utans, Macaque Monkeys, Capuchin Monkeys in Bolivia, South America - Elephants in Thailand, stray dogs on Koh Samui and Pumas in Bolivia also. I loved every moment!
Give me culture, poverty, somewhere i can help - and im anybodies. Thats where i like to be because it makes me appreciate things more while making someones/somethings life more enriching. I also like to dive quite often and theres nothing more calming than being on the sea bed lying next to a giant turtle, although my night dive was a little too boxed in for me.
India, Nepal and Tibet in Aug 2013 which i have dedicated 110% to photography and have invested in a semi-pro camera to get the best shots i can, which i also think will allow me to maybe connect more with the most important things i travel for - through my camera.
