Jim and Nic go 'round the world in 180 Days

Berlin at Leisure

Monday 14th September

Berlin

We had the luxury of sleeping in until 10am this morning.  Then did some housekeeping, caught up on e-mails and headed off to the museum island.  Outside our apartment are a number of great cafe's and restaurants so we decided on a quick schnitzel lunch to fortify us for the coming day's activities

The Pergamon Museum was Andy's suggestion for the day.  It contains a remarkable archaeological collection of which the highlight for both of us was the Ishtar Gate from Babylon.  The sheer scale of the edifice and beauty of the coloured tiles make it so memorable.

A quick bit of shopping – Birkenstocks for Nic and four books for Jim and then it was home to get ready for our final night in Berlin with Andy - more fabulous food and wine, and memories to cherish.

We have had the most wonderful time in Berlin made that much more special by our friends Andy, Norbert and Gerd. If you are reading boys: a BIG thank you again!
