Al-Humbra

Al-Humbra

Friday 28th August

Granada

Early start to the day for the 90 minute drive to Granada to visit the Al-Humbra.  This is the beautiful Spanish-Arab palace that was build in the 12th Century and is a jewel of Spanish history.  We spent 5 hours wandering the palaces, gardens and streets of this amazing site. 177 photos later!

We then drove to a girlfriend´s house of the boys, Encarna, who had invited us to lunch at her home in the hills overlooking the city.  We were warmly welcomed and she had prepared a feast of local delicacies.  The smell of the home-cooked feast was so welcoming. The afternoon lingered on as we sat on the terrace and jumped in the pool for refreshing dips.  Other friends joined us in the afternoon and it really was a celebration of what life should be – good food, good friends.

We were invited to another party on the beach later tonight but we decided to stay longer at Encarna´s and sent our apologies to the beach party.  Life can get pretty hectic on the road!
