Saturday
1st August
Miami
Began
the day with a trip back into Wilmington to look at the architecture
and explore the history of this beautiful city, Then it was too soon
time to say goodbye to my very special friends. Thanks to all the
Igoes for again being my family in the US. Then it's again a travel
day for both of us.
I
have to admit that I was getting more and more excited as I got close
to Miami to reunite with Nic. As they say – absence makes the
heart grow fonder. We were reunited in the airport Sofitel and it was
lov-er-ly.
Sunday
2nd August
Key
West.
Picked
up another convertible and headed south along Hwy 1. The trip to Key
West along the Florida Keys is one we have both been looking forward
to and it did not disappoint. We stopped for lunch in a very cool
spot by the road that served great crab, had a guitarist playing and
was bang right on the waterway with a classic old boatshed feel –
just like the movies.
Tonight
were in out home for the next 4 nights – Coconut Grove in Key West.
This is a gay guest house right in the middle of the historic
district, filled with an assortment of characters from across the US
and Europe. (we seem to be a bit of an oddity being from down-under).
It's a great place and we have a stunning room that makes us feel
like movie stars again. Huge flat screen TV, four poster Californian
King bed, private balcony with hammock. Bliss!
