OnThe Road Again

Monday 19th July

San Simeon

Finally it was time to say goodbye to San Fran. We've both loved every minute. We loaded up the car, filled up with gas, said goodbye to Victor and hit the road. Hwy 1 is one of the most famous road trips in the US. It follows the Pacific Ocean, hugging the coast for over 250 miles from SF to San Simeon. We stopped for lunch at Cannery Wharf in Monterey. It's a big tourist area but it was fun to visit. The last 100 miles was breathtaking in every sense – the view and the sheer cliff drops offs to keep the driver concentrating. We're in a Motel 6 room tonight – beautiful sunset over the ocean. Jim still gets excited watching the sun go down over the ocean. Dinner in a cheap and cheerful Mexican restaurant – best crab enchilada ever.

How are you handling the driving?

Driving was pretty cool. Nic did all the driving in Hawaii because he forgot to add my name to the driving list. In Calafornia we both drove. We would always remind each other to stay the right side of the road et. Sometimes a little hairy o the huge freeways, but having a driver and navigator was helpful.
