Yalla National Park

SRI LANKA | Saturday, 16 February 2013 | Views [297]

We got up at 4.45 am to go on safari. They said it was a. better time to see the animals, but I think it is so they can get two safaris a day. We are in the Yalla N.P. which has lropards and elephants both of which we saw. Unfortunately we were unable to take any decent photos due to the simple photo equipment we have. We also saw wild boar, crocodiles water buffaloes, deer and numerous colourful birds. It was hard going in the jeep on the rough tracks. We got our first experience of the Indian Ocean half way through the safari. It was our stopping place for breakfast. This was the site of the site of the2004 tsunami where around 47 Japanese visitors lost their lives out of 30,000 in the whole of Sri Lanka.

Michaels son Paul and his girlfriend Kate have just arrived at Colombo. We will be seeing them tonight and they will be with us for the rest of our time in Sri Lanka.

We have now spoken to James to wish him a happy 21st

We will also be calling James as it is his 21st birthday today.
