    A lone flame signifying hope & the beauty of Fall in Matsushima. In March 2011 many lives were lost and the out pour of love from the international community was astronomical. Matsushima can be described as the light from within Tohoku, showing the true spirit of the Japanese people, a The pristine reflection of the trees in the pond mirrors a future of hope & beauty. It communicates a 'clear' vision for the future in the rebuilding and restoration efforts in the Tohoku region. by: jhazle Views[262] Godaido has a 'jade' aura, a jewel in Tohoku for many Buddhists since 1604. The temple reflects a Momoyama architectural style by Date Masamune, (one eyed dragon), the first Lord of Sendai. On the curved wooden supports of the four walls, carvings of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac are arranged facing their corresponding direction.
