Observatory in Cote De Neiges

With a bit of time to kill before I head to Nepal I thought I would journey over to Montreal for a few days.
Took the train (which was lovely), come on Canada we should really be embrassing trains as a viable method of transport!

Once there I met up with my Nova Scotia buddy Martin and we ventured into the city in the pouring rain. We also decided to go troppling through the woods at Mt.Royal during the worst part of the storm. But all in all it was fun.

Martin left Sunday morning so I soloed it for two days and it was fantastic. I am pretty certain that I walked through at least 80% of the city, by the end of the first day my feet were bleeding I walked so much. I made my way through the plateau district, up into Mt.Royal, watched the Grande Prix for a bit and then walked all the way down St.Denis and St.Catherine. Needless to say I was in a bit of pain and utterly exhausted, think I konked out around 8:30.

Monday was a awesome day. Again I walked for ages, but managed to go and see some of my most loved areas of the city. First stop was my old neighborhood in NDG, where I went for breaky at St.Viateur bagels (which was delicious!). From there I toured around for a bit and then went to the park by my old apartment and read in the sunshine. From there I made my way to the Jean.Talon Market and repeatly got sufficiently lost. But I successfully made it to the market and my soul was immediately over joyed with the amount of beautiful produce!! I wanted to buy it all! There was purple cauliflower! But I had to limit myself. I bought myself the MOST tasty berry basket and headed to the observatory in Cote de Neiges. I climbed 4 billion stairs and sat in the sun, ate my berries and looked over the city sky line.

That evening I attmepted to see a movie, but failed miserably. So I opted to go for a walk in Old Montreal, this was perhaps a poor decision as it was super cold, dark and many many sketchy individuals. So I did a quick loop and made it home.

The next morning I was back on the train headed to Ottawa.

Montreal was fantastic and I was glad that I went for a quick visit. The people and the atmosphere is always entertaining. But the level of homelessness and accidition not so much. And all the smoking! What a disgusting habit.
