Ski USA We're off to Steamboat - 7,000 feet up in the Colorado Rockies, nestled quietly below one of the largest ski mountains in North America, sits a small ranching community that serves as a constant reminder that the Old West is alive and well. Yahooooo!

Last Day in Steamboat

USA | Saturday, 13 January 2007 | Views [533] | Comments [2]

Our fun time in Steamboat is coming to an end.  It is a very cold day thanks to a front from the Arctic which has sent more snow our way.  However, our fave gondola is not going today so we thought we would hit the internet cafe and have lunch in town.  Highlights of our time here have been:

  1. Skiing and snowboarding (of course)
  2. Everything is big here (Vaughan)
  3. Snowboarding on powder snow down black runs (Jackson & Vaughan)
  4. Feel the serenity (Jackson)
  5. The hot pool and the Tomahawk run (Alwyn)
  6. The Gondala - a really nice warm way to ride up the mountain and you walk on and off (Jen)
  7. My boots (Jen)
  8. Watching Vaughan eat a hot jalpeno pepper at the Mexican restaurant with tears running down his face! (Everyone)

We have been told that an Indian chief placed a curse on Steamboat many, many moons ago.  The curse is that if you come here you will always have to return.  So guess what - we are coming back.  Get ready to join us next year ski and snowboarding bunnies - the power of the Powder will take you under it's spell too.

Hi guys!!!! So glad all is going so well over there. It has been very quiet here without Vaughan! Ugh.... Its been really hot here over the last week but was cooler today.Hope Vaughan can handle the heat when he comes back. Next door (pool side) and Shane are building a fence and the panels go in tomorrow (Sunday). It will be 33 degrees when you land so be prepared. Out of the fridge and into the fire, that's our land down under. Well done Vaughan and Jackson doing the black runs.Jen and Al, we are keen to catch up and hear all about it. Will sign off now and take a look at the latest photos. Plenty of Jalpeno's in the fridge ready for Vaughan when he gets home. Take care and talk again soon.

Hi Guys,

Would love to have seen Vaughans face eating the Mexican, did you get a photo? Jen are you planning on taking up Line Dancing when you get home?

Enjoy the rest of you trip.
