Quien tiene la razon?

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC | Saturday, 14 February 2009 | Views [1442] | Comments [5]

This morning, after a nice walk in the park (check out the pic), we returned to find some neighbors in the next building having a huge fight.  I must say - initially i wasn't sure because since I've been here, I've come across many people who are not fighting but are using very emphatic language and speaking loudly.  So I thought it was business as usual.  Then, I started hearing words like "mentirosa" and "escandolo" so i knew something was up.  My hostess translated a little for me.  But, thanks to all those hours of watching, "Quien tiene la Razon?" (kind of like Jerry Springer en Espanol) before leaving the states, I was already on board :).  Thanks Comcast!

And alas, I have not escaped Valentine's Day.  It seems to be just as big and commercial here as it is in the States.  As soon as I leave this cafe, I'm going to buy candy for my host family :)

Wow! Sounds like you're really getting what you wanted, the real deal in DR. Does it rain there a lot? Are you living near the rainforest? Okay, nuf qustions! Alas, I am enjoying Valentine's Day with my two sweet loving grandbabies! I make up bed time stories for them and I'm gonna tell them one tonight about their brave, adventurous Auntie Jam (Kids version).

Thanks, Aunty Gloria! It rains here like in Florida, in short heavy bursts. It rained every day for the first few days I was here - lately it's been clear skies and quite warm. I should say that i'm not exactly experiencing the "real" DR ("real" as defined by the life the majority of folk her lead). Thanks to my doctor-ly contacts, i'm actually having quite an elitist experience here. i'm quite aware of it, and definitely not taking it for granted. Thanks for making me part of the kids' bedtime stories - that really made me smile...

Hey Jamila! Glad to see that you are doing well. This trip must be real exciting.

So... what does "mentirosa" and "escandolo" mean. If it's too much for the blog then you can always email me! LOL!! Can't wait to hear about your trip in person.
