Christian religion has become an inherent part of the culture on the island. There is a church about every 5 feet, and whether you believe in God or not most people will attend a service every Sunday. Christian missionaries began this tradition on the rainforest-covered island back in the 1830s and it spread throughout American Samoan culture.
