Many men spend twelve hours a day sitting in the low seats of their trucks-converted-into-buses, transporting people from one end of the island to another, driving 25 miles per hour, and blasting all types of music. Some are the kindest guys you will meet on the island. Pati here waited for my roommate and I every day to take us to work in the morning.

It may look sunny and clear when you wake up, but this island is known for frequent and unexpected rains. Rain stops very few activities of the people. They will even play football in a horrendous downpour, sloshing around in the resultant lake of a field.

Christian religion has become an inherent part of the culture on the island. There is a church about every 5 feet, and whether you believe in God or not most people will attend a service every Sunday. Christian missionaries began this tradition on the rainforest-covered island back in the 1830s and it spread throughout American Samoan culture.
