Today was a free day for us, we opted not to do the optional and costly tours, as shuttles were available to take us in and out of town. Michael opted to go bike riding with Rob, a nice guy from Traralgon and Lee , Gerard and I headed into town on the 10.15am shuttle bus.
We arrived at the Albertina and headed off to walk to the gardens where Strauss’s golden statue is and we wanted to get a good photo as before we had just glimpsed it as the bus drove past. Of course, even though we thought we had our bearings we walked in the wrong direction and found ourselves at Franz Joseph’s gates, the Palace and the other gardens where Mozart’s statue is. Bonus, we were happy. We got some great photos and went on to the Parliament building Town Hall and another Opera place for the rich.
So, we turned around and headed back in the other direction to find Strauss. We stopped for a drink at a cute café back near the Albertina and kept going to the garden with Strauss. We found him! By now it was about 1pm and we were planning to catch the 2.15pm shuttle back to the boat so we headed back into town.
Stopping at another café near the Albertina we had Ghoulash Soup with bread and Gerard had sausages with horseradish and mustard. We caught the bus back to the boat and found we had walked about 12kms for the day. Great exercising guys! Now tonight for the Captain’s farewell cocktail party and farewell dinner.
More food, more drink, more dancing!
