An early model combine harvester! Riders on horseback chase three or four other horses round and round a circular yard with a thick layer of unthrashed wheat underfoot. The action of the horses´ hooves galloping around thrashes the grain from the husk and is later collected by hand. This was a traditional method of threshing wheat/oats in this region of Chile but is now only performed in celebration at festivals to preserve the tradition.
