    An early model combine harvester! Riders on horseback chase three or four other horses round and round a circular yard with a thick layer of unthrashed wheat underfoot. The action of the horses´ hooves galloping around thrashes the grain from the husk and is later collected by hand. This was a traditional method of threshing wheat/oats in this region of Chile but is now only performed in celebration at festivals to preserve the tradition. by: jason_kidd Views[538] Two freshly slaughterd sheep sizzling over an open flame. These guys loyally stood there turning the spit by hand for over 2 hours while the meat cooked. The men swirl a white hankerchief around their head dancing with the woman in colourful dresses. by: jason_kidd Views[428] The woman made hundreds of home made empanadas and sopillas (fried bread) from freshly prepaired dough to feed the crowds. by: jason_kidd Views[461] A local farmer butchering a sheep for cooking on a ´spit roast´ over hot coals at a small country festival just outside Futrono on the edge of Lago Ranco. by: jason_kidd Views[570]
