    The food is just disgusting! You pay an arm and a leg for really bad cusuine. It wouldn´t be so bad if it was edible but as you can see there are far too many condiments and the meat is most likely horse! Views[328] This is Chelsea sitting on a paddle boat we rented in Lican Ray. We paddled for 20 minutes to get to an island that said ¨Privado¨. Jas got off had a quick swim and then we paddled back. We had a great time but we were a bit sore the following day. Views[370] The shimmering lake of Villarica and beach at Pucon. Views[319] This is the town of Pucon, population 21,000. Pucon was a cute place set amongst gorgeous scenery. In the background of this picture you can see the active Villarrica Volcano. It´s quite popular to climb but we decided not to do this. Pucon reminded us of a small ski town like Vail or Copper but the people had attitudes of those who live in Aspen. You needed lots of money to entertain yourself in this town!     This is Chelsea in front of the President´s Palace. Views[304] This is the Plaza De Armas in Santiago. Population 4,671,500. This city was founded by Pedro de Valdivia in 1541. It was chosen for its moderate climate and strategic location for defence. It remained a small town until the 1880s when the city experienced the nitrate boom. Then the population exploded. The city has nice neoclassical arctitecture but many of the historical buildings in downtown were destroyed in 1985 by an earthquake. Now it is a city with many high rises and a few monumental buildings. It´s houses the headquarters for mutinational companies such as Yahoo, JP Morgan and Microsoft. It feels like a safe city but Jason witnessed 3 robberies in one day! The metro is clean and very efficient. Views[344] This is the road we took to Santiago right after we crossed the border from Argentina into Chile. Views[314] Several wine bottles in the cellar of a bodega in Mendoza.     What a nice looking kitty! There was a little boy who wanted to pet the puma but when mum and dad explained why he couldn´t the tears started to fly. Who wouldn´t want to cuddle this big cat? Views[389] A toucan in the Mendoza Zoo. Views[300] This is Park General San Martin in Mendoza. It is huge and we walked for hours to find the zoo. Within the 1,000 acres of green space there are several museums, lakes and a zoo. One may compare it to Central Park in New York. Views[247] In Argentina dinner often begins at 10pm and dessert joints usually stop serving around midnight. Argentines like to stay out late! So if you´re a night owl this is the place for you. This picture is a typical Argentinan asado(barbeque). Almost every restaurant has a massive grill and they cook the meat in front of you. It smells amazing and tastes even better.     This is Chelsea enjoying a small french stick with butter before cycling to the next winery. Views[289] This is us tasting award winning wines for free! This bodega had been making both red and white wines since 1896. They use oak barrels to age the wine like most traditional wineries. Although the tour was in Spanish our tastebuds knew it was a good winery. Views[239] This is Jason endulging in the ´free´ samples at the FIRST bodega we visited. He developed really bad heart burn on day one after way too much wine! Views[319] This is Jason enjoying a wine tour in Cafayate, Argentina. Views[262] This picture was taken during our bike ride to several different wineries in Cafayate. Cafayate´s population is 11,800. This area is considered to have some of the country´s best vineyards and offers diclicious dry and sweet wines and beautiful scenery. The two best wines from this region are Torrontes (white) and Malbec (red). Traditional as well as contempoary ways of making wine are practised in this region. Views[303]
     
    Live music and dance at a traditional Argentinian (Pena) restaraunt. The food and wine are fantastic in this carnivorise country! Everything is meat, meat, meat and the steaks don´t disappoint! YUMMO :) Views[403] The increase in wealth, quality of life and ´respect for one´s city´ was an immediate observation when we arrived in Salta. Views[294] Central park in Salta Views[359] More Spanish architectural buildings line the central plaza in Salta. Views[276] A park in Salta. The presence of public park benches, rubbish bins and green grass which isn´t fenced off made for a welcome change from Bolivia. Views[327]
     
    This is our second meal in Argentina. After arriving in Salta we are very excited about the quality and quanity of the meat, it is amazing. However, Jason ordered óffal´which is the guts and the rest of the off cuts and I ordered fillet mignon. Don´t think that will be happening again! Views[276]
